Critical accidents or illnesses can occur unexpectedly in our lives. When life threatening situations occur they often require rapid relocation of the patient by air to the nearest medically appropriate facility. This life saving transport can be costly and medical insurance normally pays only a portion of the expense. The insured patient sometimes has to pay from $800 to $3,500 out of pocket expenses for critical care air ambulance service. Representatives from EagleMed were at Goodland Regional Medical Center recently explaining how those costly out of pocket expenses can be avoided through the EagleMed Membership Service. According to Leilani Schenkel of Eagle Med, as a member of the Eagle Med service individuals are not billed for any charges over what insurance has paid for an EagleMed flight. This means EagleMed members incur no out of pocket expense for air ambulance transport by EagleMed. Membership registration is an annual fee of $50 to $60. EagleMed Eagle Med is a privately owned and operated critical care transport service. A branch of this service has been located in Goodland since 2002 and currently operates with a crew of 4 registered nurses, 2 paramedics, 1 physician’s assistant and four full time pilots. Brochures are available in the Central Registration and Goodland Family Health Center lobbies or call 1-800-764-3343. |
