Auxiliary President Gets State Appointment

Shelby Miller, Goodland Regional Medical Center Auxiliary President, was recently appointed as District V Coordinator at the Hospital Auxiliaries of Kansas (HAK) state convention on November 12-13 in Wichita.

As the District V coordinator, Miller will serve on the HAK Board of Directors and be a liaison and resource person for her district. Hospital auxiliaries in Colby, Goodland, Hays, Hill City, Phillipsburg, Plainville, Quinter, Russell and WaKeeney make up District V. She will be responsible for attending HAK meetings throughout the year, visiting auxiliaries in her district and attending a district convention in the spring.

The HAK consists of 59 Kansas hospital auxiliaries with more than 11,000 members. Statewide, auxiliary members volunteer 820,000 hours and donate $1.5 million to Kansas hospitals each year. In addition, auxiliaries contribute $175,000 for health career scholarships each year. Locally, GRMC Auxiliary members volunteered more than 2,000 hours this year. From funds earned through membership as well as events like its annual Potato Bar in March and Holiday bake sale in December, the GRMC Auxiliary contributes to a wide variety of hospital projects, assists in purchasing equipment and sponsors a $600 scholarship each year for a Goodland High School senior.

The GRMC Auxiliary offers memberships for any level of volunteer involvement. For more information on membership or if you are interested in becoming a member of the GRMC Auxiliary can contact Tina Goodwin, director of volunteer services, at (785) 890-6036.
