Health Information Director
Responsible for successful maintenance of patient records and organizational and administrative operation of the Health Information Management Services Department. Provides oversight responsibility for operational aspects of department. Serves as resource for administration & medical staff regarding medical record content and regulatory requirements. Assures availability of the medical records at all times as may be necessary for hospital operation.
Minimum Education: Baccalaureate Degree required in Health Information Administration or other health related field.

Minimum Experience: Three to five years of previous hospital experience in all aspects of health information management functions. Knowledge of national and state regulations for acute care hospital setting. Ability to work with physicians and staff in a collaborate manner.

Certification or Registration if required: RHIT or RHIA required within 1 year of start date.

Professional Requirements: Attends committee, CQI and management meetings as appropriate. Resolves personnel concerns at the departmental level, utilizing the grievance process as required. Ensures compliance with policies and procedures regarding department operations, fire, and safety and infection control. Effectively and consistently communicates administrative directive to personnel and encourages interactive departmental meetings and discussions. Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices. Communicates the mission, ethics and goals of the hospital, as well as the focus statement of the department.
